As a Pianist,
David has worked at Pizza on the Park and other cabaret venues in London and theatres across the south-east
including Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre where he has
worked as Musical Director since 1994.
As a soloist, David
performs regularly at the National Theatre with his tribute to Scott Joplin. In
addition to his solo work, David has formed an 11-piece Ragtime Band, Elite Syncopations, with the aim of bringing this wonderfully
evocative music to a wider public.
Other engagements are many and varied and include background music for functions, accompanying singers
and instrumentalists, repetiteur work, auditions, exams, dance classes and for
shows, revues and cabarets.
Composer
David also works as a composer . For
the concert hall he has written a number of large and small scale choral works and other
vocal compositions and for
the theatre collaborated on several musicals. Shows include The Water-babies, Pandemonium! and Five Children and It (Edinburgh Festival
Fringe); Shake Ripple and Roll, Skool and Crossbones and adaptations of
Oscar Wilde's The Selfish Giant and
The Happy Prince
for Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Youth Theatre. Many of these
musicals are now published and are regularly performed by schools and youth
theatre companies in the
David also writes for film and TV .
Arranger
As a music typesetter and arranger, David's clients include
Faber Music, Novello & Co, Southern Percussion, the legendary rock band
Jethro Tull, plus over a hundred performers, composers and aspiring pop
idols.
